We share with you a few images from this beautiful exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, offering a fascinating glimpse into life and interiors in 18th-century France.
The exhibition brings together the many expressions of the decorative arts: wood panelling and wallpaper, furniture, ceramics, silverware, clothing and fashion accessories, toys and jewellery.
What we particularly enjoyed is the focus on the transformations that shaped everyday life during this period — lighting, heating and access to water — and the way these innovations influenced interiors, furnishings, domestic service and the codes of social etiquette.
A beautiful reminder that decorative arts are not only about beauty, but also about the way we live.
